Website Redesign Checklist for Home-Service Companies

Not sure if your website needs a redesign? Use this checklist to evaluate speed, mobile experience, conversion paths, and SEO readiness before you decide.

Signs Your Website May Need Attention

Slow load times, a clunky mobile experience, an outdated look, unclear calls to action, or simply not generating the leads it used to — any of these are worth investigating before assuming a full redesign is the answer. Sometimes the fix is narrower than a full rebuild.

The Checklist

  • Speed: Does your site load in under 2.5 seconds (Largest Contentful Paint)?
  • Mobile experience: Is it genuinely easy to use on a phone, not just "technically responsive"?
  • Clear calls to action: Can a visitor tell within seconds how to contact you or request service?
  • Trust signals: Are reviews, credentials, and real photos visible without digging?
  • SEO foundation: Does every page have a real, unique title and description? Is there a working sitemap?
  • Content freshness: Is anything on the site clearly out of date?

What "Redesign" Should Actually Mean

A redesign that only changes visual style without addressing speed, mobile usability, or conversion clarity solves the least important problem. Prioritize function before appearance.

Questions to Ask Any Redesign Vendor

  1. How will you make sure I don’t lose my current search rankings during the transition?
  2. What’s your plan for site speed and mobile performance, not just visual design?
  3. Will the new site have proper meta titles, descriptions, and schema markup out of the box?
